Product Overview

This produces a red skinned and purplish-red fleshed . Fruits are an average 3/4 of a pound. This variety is self-pollinating and makes a great selection for pollinating your other dragon fruit..

Self-Fertile- It can use its own pollen to set fruit.

Dragon fruit can be grow in containers or in the ground as long as they are planted in well-drained soil, full sun and trained to a trellis to support weight of this fast-growing cactus. Protect from hard freezes.

Dragon Fruit Plant Care: All of our dragon fruit plants have been greenhouse grown. When you receive your plants, please be patient in acclimating them to their new environment. This means slowly transitioning them from full shade to full sun over a period of at least three weeks. Dragon fruit is tropical fruiting cactus. Dragon fruit will not grow in cold climates, so make sure that the temperature is above 40 degrees Fahrenheit to prevent cold damage. Dragon fruit plants can be grown in large containers or the ground. Avoid overplanting into very large containers, instead gradually increase container size in relation to the plant size. We recommend a complete fertilizer during the growing season. Avoid overwatering in the winter to ensure the plant does not rot off.

    Sugar Dragon

Plant is very small and has a mature 3” branch. Decent, but it will take over 1 year for growth and another year for canopy development to yield fruit. Shipping bigger cutting to those who can’t drive is something to think about, or maybe not shipping any, and doing pick-up only. The price difference isn’t much. But the quality can be much different.

There's not a lot of places to get a guaranteed sugar dragon cuttings. It's nice to have a reliable place at a reasonable price. The box was shipped quick, packaged well, and all the cuttings looked healthy. Looking forward to planting them this Spring!

    Sugar Dragon order

Posted by Phil on Sep 28th 2022

My two Sugar dragons arrived in excellent condition in spite of the box being pretty well mangled and the potting soil being pretty well distributed throughout the packing peanuts. Had the same package condition as last years order of two Delight dragon plants which are currently about 10 days from flowering, 3 buds on each plant.

I ordered several varieties from Cal Poly. I am very happy with the plants, service and delivery. The price is great and the plants were very healthy and ready to transplant in larger pots. I plan on buying more in the future.
