Product Overview

Palora is a unique variety of yellow-skinned dragon fruit, known for its super sweet, white-fleshed fruit. The fruit begins green and turn yellow as it matures it is oval shaped and thorned, all thorns should fall off when ripe. On average the fruit on a Palora dragon fruit weighs approximately .8 pounds.

Self-Fertile- It can use its own pollen to set fruit.

Dragon fruit are a tropical fruiting cactus. Dragon fruit will not grow in cold climates, so make sure that the temperature is above 40 degrees Fahrenheit to prevent cold damage. Protect from hard freezes. Dragon fruit can be grown in containers or in the ground, planted in well-drained soil, full sun and trained to a heavy-duty trellis to support weight of this fast-growing plant. Avoid overplanting into very large containers, instead, gradually increase container size in relation to the plant size. We recommend a complete fertilizer during the growing season. Avoid overwatering in the winter to ensure the plant does not rot off.

All our dragon fruit plants have been greenhouse grown. When you receive your plants, please be patient in acclimating them to their new environment. This means slowly transitioning them from shade to full sun over a period of at least three weeks to avoid sun scald. This could take longer in extreme heat.

    Palora

Ahh...the infamous Dragon Fruit plant that bears the yellow fruit. I purchased two plants and they were in very good shape. They could not be any healthier. If you are concerned with the quality of the plant, I would say they are are some of the better Dragon Fruit plants that I have purchased For the price, you get a healthy plant and will be supporting the horticulture program at Cal Poly. A win-win situation.

    Plants in good condition

Posted by Kenny Kaye on Mar 18th 2020

This cutting arrived in good condition with a few nicely developed roots and new growth. I look forward to watching it grow more! I've tried this fruit from the grocery store and it is very tasty, akin to a honey fig, or a very sweet asian pear.

    Palora seedling

Came super healthy and really well packaged. I've heard dragonfruit seedlings are not true to fruit, I hope this is not the case.

Definitely a seedling and not a cutting

Posted by Julian on Nov 14th 2019

Based on what appears to be a response to a question from another reviewer, I thought that this was going to be a cutting from a "true" Palora parent, but based on my own experience with growing Palora from seed, I'm certain that this is a juvenile plant grown from seed. It may still grow true and bear fruit similar to what you find commercially, but you might as well buy the fruit if they're available in your area and sprout your own seedlings - or attempt to graft buds from fruit. Having said that, the plant I received is very healthy, and you'll save a few months of effort.

Good price on hard to find variety

Posted by Monica on Nov 13th 2019

Very pleased with my recent order. Everything arrived quickly and plants were healthy. The cactus' were on the small side but the price was very good so I'm not complaining. Palora is hard to find at the local nurseries and is very sought after by the online crowd so I'm glad Poly had a couple in stock. Shipping is a bit pricey to San Diego.
